On the 21st of November 2015,
Sakura College held a Drama Acoustical Night in conjunction with the college’s
biggest event of the year, Metamour4sis. Drama Acoustical Night is an event
where the residents of the different colleges in UNIMAS were given the chance
to show off their acting and singing skills as well as compete with other
colleges for the title of the best acting or singing act of the night. The
colleges that took part were Sakura, Tunku Abdul Zaidi (TAZ), Allamanda, Cempaka and
Bunga Raya. Each college also sent a representative to act as the panel of
judges of the event. The representatives were Nur Fazila from Sakura college,
Mohamad Hafizzudin from Tunku Abdul Zaidi (TAZ) college, Mohamad Shahril from
Bunga Raya college, Mohamad Afifi from Allamanda college and Abang Mohamad Ariff from Cempaka.
The event began at 8.15 p.m. with drama performances.
Most of the dramas performed revolved around the theme of love and friendship.
The first to perform was the team from BRC, whose drama, entitled ‘Kasih Nur
Suzuki’, was about two friends from different villages who fought over a girl,
only to be revealed at the end of the story that the girl already had a partner
of her own. TAZ College sent two teams for the drama performances. The first
team performed a drama entitled ‘Jodoh dan Takdir’ which was about the funny
love triangle between Puteri Santubong, Puteri Sejinjang and Putera Serapi. The
second team’s drama, ‘Sehati Sejiwa’ was about the two friends, who would do
anything for each other, had their friendship tested in the most unexpected
ways.
Sakura College’s team performed a drama
entitled ‘Snow Black’, a parody of the famous fairy tale ‘Snow White’. The final
drama performance was from Cempaka College’s team, which told the story of a
married couple, whose happy relationship turned sour when the husband began to
grow tired of the wife. Despite the sad plot, the drama was hilariously
delivered which caused loud laughter from most of the audience. Allamanda
College sent no representatives for the drama performances.
The second part of the event consisted of
acoustic performances. First up were the representatives from TAZ College,
Kuzika, who performed ‘Pelesit Kota’. Their rock star attitude on stage gave an
awesome start to the acoustic part of the event as it raised again the spark of
interest of the crowd. Sakura College’s first representatives, who dubbed
themselves as Reflection, performed a Paramore medley, with ‘Ignorance’ as its
main highlight. The main singer impressed the audience with her amazing vocals
and her ability to reach the high notes of the song. The college’s second
representatives gave an impressive performance consisting of Kelly Clarkson’s ‘Since You’ve Been Gone’,
Megan Trainor’s ‘Lips are Moving’ and lastly, Wonder Girls’ ‘Nobody’, which
earned a loud roar of approval from the audience.
BRC’s first representatives gave it their
all in their top-notch performance of Kembara’s ‘Gerhana dalam Jiwaku’,
‘Pelesit Kota’ and Awie’s ‘Ratuku’. Their second representative gave a soulful
and passionate performance of Awie’s ‘Tragedi’. TAZ College’s team, Fantastika,
performed an old favourite; Click 5’s ‘Jenny’, local band Bunkface’s ‘Through
My Window’, One Direction’s current hit ‘Drag Me Down’ and Panic! At The
Disco’s ‘Mona Lisa’. The last performance was from Allamanda College’s only
representative team, with their own take on Chemical Romance’s ‘I Don’t Love
You Like I Did Yesterday’, Taylor Swift’s ‘I Knew You Were Trouble’ and Radja’s
‘Jujur’.
The night came to a near close around 11
p.m. Souvenirs were given to the panel of judges as an appreciative gesture.
With that, the Drama Acoustical Night came to an end.
