Saturday,
12 Mac – It was a morning full of fun and games with every level in each block
sending in the names of their representatives of 19 at the Netball Court,
Sakura College. Though, some representatives did not attend due to circumstances.
Registration of participants began around 7.00 am until about 7.45 am.
Before the event truly started, there was a
warming-up session of about 10 minutes. As previously mentioned, some
participants could not attend. Therefore, the organiser decided to have some of
the committee to join with the groups that are lacking members.
Before each game was played, a demonstration of how
to play was done. There are 5 games in total. Each game was held in a bracketed
tournament style with each block as one bracket. Winners of each bracket or
block then competed with each other for 1st, 2nd and 3rd
overall winners of the game.
The first game is “Telur di Hujung Tanduk” which
basically a ping-pong ball in a spoon and the players have to walk a certain
distance and then transfer the ball to their teammate. If the ball falls before
the player reached her teammate, then she has to start over. The team that
finished the fastest is the winner. From Block A, the team that went to the
finals is A.3 whereas Block B is B.1 and Block C is C.1.
In the finals, there was an extra condition, that
is, one additional team member from the group will drag out the cheer “Sakura”
for as long as she can and the ping-pong ball must be passed to the next member
before the cheer ended. If not, then the player has to start over. The results
are as follows: A.3 having the first place, then B.1 and C.1.
The second game is the “Water Bomb”. A total of 11
members is needed to play the game. Each team will be given 10 balloons filled
with water. There is 1 person at the front of the line to give the balloon to
the first pair. The first pair will then throw up the balloon in the air for
the next pair to catch using a sarong.
The final pair will then transfer the balloon to a bucket provided.
Once again, A.3 and B.1 went to the finals with C.3.
C.3 went to the finals after they won the additional round against C.2 to break
an earlier draw. As previously, 10 balloons were given to each team and the
team with the most at the end of the game will win. A.3 once again dominated
with B.1 coning in the second place and C.3 in the third.
The next game is the “Water Blind”. The game
required 6 members, half will be blindfolded and the other half will have a cup
on their head. The one blindfolded will have to turn 5 five times and then
scoop out water from a pail and pour it into the cup on the member’s head,
guided only by other team members as to the position of the cup. The other will
then walk to a bottle then pour the water from the cup to the bottle. Cik Ain
participated in the game together with C.1.
In the finals, we have once more, A.3 and from Block
B, B.2 and C.2 from Block C. The players were reminded not to hold onto the cup
while walking or pouring the water into the bottle and only the string. The overall
winner was C.2 followed by A.3 and then B.2.
The fourth game is “Sehati Sejiwa”. There are 6 members
from each group. The team are divided into a group of 3, a pair and one other.
The first person have to run with a ribbon and pick up another ribbon then
together with two others have to tie their legs together. Then, moving together
to the other half of their team and again, tying their legs. The team to reach
the end the fastest wins the round.
The finals for the game had to be delayed slightly
as the ribbons needed to be untangled. After the ribbons were untangled and
some could not so alternatives were necessary, the teams that went to the
finals were A.1, B.1 and C.2. First place went to C.2, then A.1 and finally
B.1.
The final game is “Qu Puteh”. The game is about
search for rubber bands in a plate of flour without using hands, only the face
and the mouth. There are five members from each group. The one that has the
most rubber bands wins. A.3, B.3 and C.3 won their respective between levels
round.
The finals for the games has a slight twist. A layer
of flour already mixed with water was poured on top of only flour with rubber
bands inside. The winning condition remains the same. C.3 won first place with
A.3 in the second place and B.3 in the third.
Soon after the finals for the fifth game, the
closing ceremony was held. The overall winners of the entire event is A.3 at
the first place followed by C.2 and B.1. Other than the overall winners, other
teams receive consolation prizes. A small gift was given to Cik Ain by the
program director. The event ended around 12.30 pm.
