Shed The Cheese

On 28th September, the second edition of the program Shed the Cheese, a recurring event held on Wednesday at 4.30pm was conducted. Sign in and sign out was conducted in front of the Seminar Room, Block A. The event was then moved to the Sakura College’s Volleyball court where a warm-up session was done which consists of a series of movements to relax the muscles, laps around the court and jumping jacks, also known as, star jumps before moving on to the main activity which is dodgeball with a little modification by the organisers.

Participants were divided into 15 smaller groups. The rules and conditions are as follows:
1. Two groups on each side of the court
2. 4 balls in the middle which is up for grabs as soon as the game was started

3. Players whom were hit by the opposite team has to move to the other side of the court whereby should they received or stole a ball may hit the opposite team. Meaning that the players have to be aware of attacks from two ends.

5. Winner is decided when all players of a team is eliminated. The team which still has players wins.
6. An additional rule was added at final few games due to time constraint in which a single player from each team is selected by the team to be the Queen. Should the Queen be eliminated, the entire team loses.

The pace of the first game began rather slow as the players were still adjusting to the modified rules of the game. It is clear that the participants had fun as even though there is a slight, very slight drizzle, they still continued with the game.

Will you save me?

Saturday, 17th September 2016 – The day was clear and bright. The perfect weather for an explorace. Before the activities started, the participants were provided a bit of breakfast. A short briefing was held and the participants were released to their explorace. The activities for the explorace were areas nearby or within Sakura College. The group were to receive a signed paper from the facilitators of the activities which they have completed. There were five groups with ten members each.
Among the activities held was describing the participants’ response when given a question or confronted with a situation by way of a picture such as recognising the types of injury and their treatment. Other questions include how many types of burns and what items are present in a first aid kit.

There is also an activity similar to a hidden object game where the members of a group are to search for ten pictures of items available in a first aid kit with only one member searching at a time. Once a member have found one, the picture is shown to the facilitators in charge of that particular activity. The group member was then replaced with another. Each group have a time limit of ten minutes to search.
One of the activities is a demonstration by the facilitators of three types of injuries which are a wounded arm, a broken arm and a stabbed arm. After the demonstration, the group members have the opportunity to demonstrate the first aid that they were shown on each other. The facilitators also made the group members do an action of their preference such as singing.
Another activity had the group divided into two with a member of the smaller group becoming the hostage of the other. The smaller groups were told to tie the hands and legs of their hostage. Once the hostages are tied, the smaller groups then moved to their members whom have been taken hostage and released them as quickly as they can.

There was one other activity which was a crossword puzzle. That particular activity ended very swiftly. In fact, all activities were completed by all the groups far ahead of schedule. The organising committee were rather surprised. To paraphrase one of them, “The participants were very enthusiastic that all activities ended earlier than expected.”
Prize-giving ceremony were conducted by the Vice President I of Sakura Student Representative Committee, Nor Atikah Bt Ahmad Sayuti. All were the groups received a prize with the top three spots went to Group 4, Group 3, Group 5 respectively and the fourth place going to Group 2 and the fifth to Group 1. A small gift of appreciation were given to the Vice President I for conducting the prize giving ceremony. A group photo was then held to commemorate the program.

MIFTAH AL-BAIT 6.0

Hadirin mengaminkan doa setelah selesai solat Hajat.
Bacaan Yassin berjemaah.

Memetik kata-kata Cik Ain, "Be the best believer, no matter what religion you are".
