On the 13th of September 2018, the Jawatankuasa Surau Sakura (JASSA) organized
the yearly event, Miftah al-Bait. This year’s theme was “Hidup ini Satu Perjalanan” which can be translated to “Life is a
Journey”. The invited speaker for this year was Ustazah Samsiah binti Jayos,
UNIMAS’ very own counselling lecturer from the Faculty of Cognitive Science and
Human Development.
Being one of the earliest event held in Sakura College this
year, the occasion received overwhelming responses from the students. As the
program was open to both Muslims and non-Muslim
students, the Surau, was packed with attendees joining the event.
At 5.50 p.m., the registration counter for Muslim students
were open. Once the registration session was complete, the event started with
al-Mathurat reciting session.
After the al-Mathurat recital, the Muslimahs began praying
for the Maghrib prayer and then performed the Solat Hajat together. At 7.30
p.m, the Yaasin recitation session was held. The event continued with the Isyak
prayer.
The main event of the night officially started at 8.30 p.m.
Ustazah Samsiah was invited to give a talk on this year’s theme. The talk began
with a friendly introduction of the speaker, Ustazah Samsiah binti Jayos. The atmosphere of the event lightened up by the way Ustazah
Samsiah hed the talk. The Johor-born lecturer also prepared slides for the
attendees to enhance their understanding on the topic. After that, Ustazah
Samsiah gave everyone in the room a pen and paper to actually write down the
deeds we carry for the world and the life hereafter.
