Sakura@Kenyalang: Closing Ceremony


After seven days, the Sakura@Kenyalang Festival has finally said its farewell on the 29th of November 2016 which was on Tuesday. The closing ceremony of the festival was held at the main site of the Sakura@Kenyalang Festival and started at 8:30 PM.

The arrival of the VIPs, the principal of Sakura College, Miss Siti Nor Ain and the Deputy Registrar was followed up by the singing to the UNIMAS-Ku Gemilang anthem and also Tekad Sakura. Performance of mixed ethnic dances was served first before the official speeches and statement as to mark the closing of the festival.

Other performances of Light Modern Dance, Choir as well as Cheerleading which brought along especially by Sakura College were also presented as to cheer the crowds. Next up was the most-awaited part of the event which is the prize-giving ceremony to the winners as well as the participants of activities that have been held along the Sakura@Kenyalang Festival.

The end of the closing ceremony marked the end of the Sakura@Kenyalang Festival.

SAKURA@KENYALANG : ORIGAMI CLASS

SUNDAY(27 NOV 2016)- In conjunction with Sakura Kenyalang Festival, the college organized a origami class program. The program were held at Seminar Room from 1.30pm to 4.00pm. The program had invited 'sensei' (teacher) from Sarawak-Japan friendship club. Besides that, the origami class have 3 sessions which was lead by a tutor, Mr. David Ling Chuh Hir.


Origami is the art of paper folding, which is often associated with Japanese culture. For the first session, the participant were taught to folded a crane envelope.


For the next  session, Mr. David teach the participant on how to fold an origami of Christmas tree.


In the third session, the participant had to do an origami of peacock. Mr. David told that the folding of the peacock was the most complicated and advance stage.


Our principle would not miss a chance in joining together making the origami. The program had ended at 4.00 pm with a photo together with participant.

Sakura@Kenyalang: Sumo Kain Pelikat


Although the weather seemed to be raining lightly, the ‘Sumo Kain Pelikat’, of which inspired by the famous sports in Japan, Sumo, that adapted to the Malaysian traditional wearing, sarong or ‘kain pelikat’ (for men), was still continued and succeed until the last bit of the event. Proudly, the participations from other colleges were highly anticipated and satisfied since the Sumo Kain Pelikat was only open to male.

The Sumo Kain Pelikat was directed to the rules that lined out by the original Sumo sports with some adaptations. Each team consisted of three members. Each member from each team fought against each other and whenever the member lost to the opponent, the other member from the lost team would send another fighter. The last team standing, with the lowest fouls is the winner.

Due to the apparent condition of the weather that day, 27th November 2016, the venue for the Sumo Kain Pelikat has been changed from the main court in front of Sakura College to the fully-grassed area near to the main site of the Sakura@Kenyalang stage. The announcement as well as prize-giving ceremony for the result of the game only happened during the Closing Ceremony of the Sakura@Kenyalang Festival on 29th November 2016, Tuesday.

FORUM TRAVELOG BUMI JEPUN


24/11/2016 -Kenali kehidupan bumi matahari terbit bersama Prof. Dr. Ibrahim Safawi Mohd Zain sempena Festival Sakura@Kenyalang. Penyampai yang dijemput khas bagi program  kali ini iaitu Forum: Travelog Bumi Jepun. Prof. Dr. Ibrahim berkongsi pengalaman beliau menjalani kehidupan di Jepun selama 3 tahun 8 bulan.


Menurut pengamalan Prof. , orang Jepun sangat mengalu-alukan kedatangan tetamunya malahan mereka sangat menghormati antara satu sama lain. Menurut beliau, lagi kehidupan di bumi Jepun ada perbezaan dengan kehidupan di Malaysia. Seperti yang semua tahu, orang  jepun sangat menghargai waktu yang mereka ada dan mereka menjalankan tugasan yang diberikan dengan cara yang profesional.

“Life is depend on it”, itu pernyataan yang diberikan oleh Prof. kepada orang jepun, oleh kerana mereka sangat tekun dan kuat bekerja tanpa mengenali erti lelah. Selain itu, satu soalan pendapat telah diajukan oleh moderator kepada Prof. mengenai  tragedi hebat tsunami yang menimpa bumi jepun pada suatu ketika . Menurut Prof. Dr Ibrahim, musibah yang sehebat begitu tidak mematahkan semangat penduduk jepun untuk terus berusaha dalam menjalani kehidupan seperti sedia kala. Tambahan lagi, semangat kerjasama yang diserlah oleh orang jepun sangat cemerlang, dimana mereka membantu antara satu sama lain tanpa menghiraukan persekitaran yang terjejas teruk pada ketika itu. 


Seterusnya, moderator bertanyakan adanya sifat-sifat islam dalam kehidupan seharian orang Jepun dari aspek kebersihan. Prof. mengatakan orang Jepun sangat mementingkan kebersihan malahan sifat seperti ini telah diterapkan sejak dari kecil lagi. Selain itu, Prof. menambah lagi, semangat gotong-royong juga turut ada dalam diri setiap orang jepun itu sendiri. Tambah beliau lagi, orang Jepun sangat terkenal dengan semangat setia kawan dimana beliau sendiri mempunyai ramai teman dari Jepun.

Sebelum berakhirnya forum, Prof Dr. Ibrahim menjawab soalan dari seorang pelajar mengenai cara untuk mengelak rasa “home sick” untuk mereka yang pertama kali menjejak kaki ke bumi asing. ‘Buatlah diri anda gembira dengan cuba bercampur dengan kehidupan disana dan perlulah seseorang itu, seimbang antara minda dengan emosi’,kata Prof. Dr. Ibrahim.
Program berakhir dengan pemberian cenderahati kepada Prof. Dr. Ibrahim Safawi oleh pengetua Kolej Sakura. Sekian.

Robotic Night Exhibition


            On the 28th November 2016, a robotic exhibition was held at the Car Park of Block C in conjunction with the Sakura@Kenyalang Festival. There were 3 robotic exhibit. Two of them were by students of SMK Jalan Arang and the final one were two robots borrowed from the Faculty of Engineering.

            
              The first robotic exhibit shows the mechanism of how a vending machine works by the use of sensors. The second one is a robotic arm capable of grabbing items and sorting them according to colour. The final one is two robots remote-controlled by phone capable of playing soccer with each other with directions from the handler. Visitors were given a chance to use the exhibit and learn more about them.


            A representative of the students of SMK Jalan Arang were called to the stage to receive certificates from the President of Student Representative Committee of Sakura College, Ms Wan Azliza whom is also the Program Director of Sakura@Kenyalang Festival. There was also a group photo of the students.

SAKURA KENYALANG : DESIGNIZTAR TOTE (27RD NOVEMBER 2016)




SUNDAY , NOVEMBER 27, 2016

In conjunction with Sakura Kenyalang Festival, the college organized a designiztar tote program. The program are started from 10.00 a.m. to 12.00 p.m in Seminar Room. Several committee member from SEB unit came over to conduct the program.


This program is a great ideas to make a canvas tote bag. A perfect craft for kids and adults.


Participants pick a beautiful fabric and make a custom gift bag for friends. Attach a note with suggested uses – grocery, re-gifting, an extra bag for traveling, etc.


Many people want to look stylish at the pool or beach but in these tough economic times, there isn't always money to spend on a great.


This tote bag patterns something simple that can be made quickly.




The event ended at 12.00 p.m. with a commemoration photo with the participants.

Colour Run




             Colour Run in conjunction with Sakura@Kenyalang Festival was held on the 26th November 2016. With an estimated overall number of participants of 500, the event was full of colours. The route in which the participants ran were from BHEP to Cempaka College to PITAS, then to Allamanda College, to Dahlia College and finally, the run ended at FSTS Car Park. 


                Before the run, the participants were lead through a series of warm-up exercises to loosen their muscles and reduce the risk of injuries. Though as precaution, trained medical professional were on standby for any medical needs.


             The first hundred runners were given a medal. At the end of the event, it can be seen that the participants had a lot of fun, were covered in colour powder of many different colours and the roads were filled with colours.
