February 2020, Tuesday – The
Art and Culture Exco organised a competition that went on for three days. On
the first day, which is on the 18th of February, Dikir Barat and traditional dance
competitions took place. Some judges who are skillful in these field were
invited to evaluate the contestants. Two colleges, Kolej Sakura and Kolej Bunga
Raya compete against each other in Dikir
Barat. Traditional dance competition on the other hand consists of dancers
from Kolej Sakura, Kolej Bunga Raya, Kolej Cempaka and Kolej Allamanda.
The
night was so eventful and gained a lot of spectators from other colleges. Dikir Barat originated from Kelantan is
where a group of people singing with some others who sang solo. We were able to
hear melodious voice from the singers and some energetic voices too. The
spectators were very supportive as they cheer for the contestants to lift their
spirit up. After the singing, we were entertained with some traditional dances
from the four colleges.
All
the dances are unique and captivating, where we are able to see different types
of dances. The chemistry between the dancers also make the spectators to feel
more excited making it more enjoying. Since Kolej Sakura is an all-girls
residents, the dance was more feminine and making people feel soft hearted.
Other colleges have a mixture of male and female dancers made it feels sweet
and charming. Overall, the performances went on smoothly and are all delightful
making the night more beautiful.
