In conjunction with Konvensyen Wanita Anggun (KWA),
Kolej Sakura organized an educational talk centring around self-appearance and
beauty: Let’s Cantik. Two student speakers were invited for the event: a 3rd
year chemical engineering student named Dayang Noor Azie, and a 2nd
year civil engineering student named Nur Hijjah Syazalina. Lia Naziera, a 2nd
year cognitive science student, was the moderator for the talk. The event began
at 7.30 p.m. with participant signing-in process.
The event consisted of two main activities: beauty
tips by the speakers, and a series of videos corresponding to the related
beauty tips. The speakers talked about the importance of skincare and how it
should be prioritized over makeup, because the condition of the skin affects
the overall appearance of a person’s face. A person should be aware of which
skin type he or she has, and use face produces which are suitable to it to
avoid unwanted side-effects.
Azie also mentioned that a person should always
moisturize her face before putting on make-up to avoid unwanted skin reactions
in the long run. Besides that, Hijjah mentioned the importance of sleep,
especially among busy university students. An adequate amount of sleep will
most likely result in healthier skin, she said.
The speakers also took time to answer some submitted
questions. One question raised the concern of why people prioritize outer
appearances nowadays and Azie graciously answered with “While inner beauty is
indeed important, you should always look after your self-appearance. Make-up is
not always necessary, however, how you present yourself to others help to make
a good impression.”
The talk ended at around 9.30 p.m. after tokens of
appreciation were given to the speakers and the moderator.
