May 13th,
2017: Mary Kay Inspires You Intercollege Beauty Workshop was held at the ground
floor of Tun Abang Salahuddin Islamic Centre. The invited speakers for the
event are Senior Director Mdm Falissatini, Senior Beauty Consultants Ms Nur
Fitrah and Ms Intan Sharfinaz, and Beauty Consultants Ms Nur Farahani, and Ms
Ivy Rudah.
Mdm
Falissatini and Ms Nur Fitrah began with sharing a brief history of the founder
of Mary Kay beauty products, Mdm Mary Kay Ash.
Before going
into the applications of makeup, the speakers introduced the proper products
and their sequence in cleansing the face. The first product to be used is a
cleanser for the eye area and the lips. Mdm Falissatini also shared that the
less foamy a cleanser is, the better it is and reminded the participants to
wash the makeup off first before washing the face.
The next item
to be used is the facial cleanser. The cream should be applied on the face
using the last three fingers on the hand as it produced less pressure. The
application began with circular motions on the lower jaw and followed by the
cheeks, nose and forehead. The direction of the application should be going up
the face to reduce the facial muscle from sagging. The facial cleanser was
removed using a wet facial tissue so that any dirt will stick to the tissue.
Then, an application
of a mask to remove dirt that cannot be removed by the facial cleanser as well
as tighten the facial muscle. The mask need not be applied daily but once or
twice a week is enough. Ms Nur Farahani also revealed that if the user
experienced itchiness while wearing the mask, it may not be due to sensitive
skin but dehydrated skin as the mask used also moisturize the skin and having a
thin skin.
After 10
minutes, the mask was removed using a wet facial tissue and on the surface of
the tissue are all the dirt that was removed. Then, the participants were told
to use a toner. The previous products opened the pores on the face in order to
remove dirt. The purpose of the toner was to close up the opened pores as well
as help in removing leftover makeup. Moisturizer was then used to keep the skin
moist.
Then, the
makeup session and competition. The first tip given by Ms Nur Fitrah was on how
to select the correct foundation. It is a common for people to test the
foundation on the skin of the hand. However, this is incorrect as the skin tone
of the hand and the face were often different. The proper place to test it out
is on the skin of the neck. Application of the foundation should follow the
flow of the face, normally, going downwards.
The first layer
to be applied is the primer followed by a mix of foundation and the selected CC
cream. If makeup is to be applied on the eye area, an eye primer should be
applied first. This is to ensure the makeup applied in that area lasted longer
and will not dripped below the area intended when sweating occurs.
A pair of
participants from each table was the representatives for their table in the
makeup competition where one is the model and the other is the makeup artist.
Ms Nur Fitrah and Mdm Falissatini were the judges with Ms Nur Fitrah having the
final say. The winning pair were Ms Siti Amira as the model and Elsiey as the
makeup artist. The winning pair received a small bag of Mary Kay products as
the prize.
