Sweet tooth and aspiring pastry chefs had
their fill on the 9th of October 2016 when Kolej Sakura organized a
dessert making competition called ‘Dessert Dash’. True to its name, this
competition requires the participants to create their own dessert using key
ingredients consisting of chocolate and cornflakes as well as extra ingredients
of their own, within a limited set of time and those desserts are also to be
sold to passer-by’s.
The event began at 1.30 p.m. with the
opening of a booth selling a few ingredients the participants could buy should
they are lacking some. At 2.00 p.m., after a briefing, the participants began
making their desserts. They were given approximately two hours to cook, and
about an hour to sell as much of their products as they can to other students.
The participants were told to raise at least RM30 in order for them to earn
their revenue back.
The
evaluations were done by Ms. Noorfarida and Mr. Jeffery. Each team was required
to send a representative who would then present and explain their desserts to
the judges. Around 5.45 p.m., a short closing ceremony is held. The teams that
managed to earn back their revenues by selling more than RM30 worth of desserts
are as followed:
·
Food Lover
·
Gummy
·
Super Girls
