23rd May 2018 – To mark the end of the semester, Kolej Sakura organized one final event: “Amanat Pengetua”, or a meeting with the college’s principal. This yearly event is held at the Dewan Serbaguna, Student Pavillion. Registration of the students began at 4.00 p.m. outside of the hall where they are sorted based on their college blocks.

The event officially began at 4.30 p.m. with the arrival of the college’s principal, Cik Siti Nor Ain Musa. The students sang Unimasku Gemilang and Tekad Sakura before they sat down in their respective seats.

The event started with award ceremony for the various clubs in Kolej Sakura for their contribution during the 2017/2018 session. Cik Ain, the college’s principal, is invited to the stage to hand certificates of appreciation to the club members.

Cik Ain was invited forward to give her speech. She addressed several important issues, such as student registration for the following ceremony, and possible new housing arrangements to accommodate more new students in the upcoming intake. She also reminded students to be aware of the process of residential college applications or risk not having a place in the college during the upcoming semester. Besides that, she answered several questions and complaints from the students, such as roommate problems, loud noises from the events being held, unfixed damaged facilities, etc.

Another big concern that discussed was on the expectation of a higher number of new students that UNIMAS will be accepting for the upcoming semester, in which the placement for the current students in Sakura College will be slightly affected. Cik Siti Noor Ain relieving-ly added, “as long as the online pre-registration have been completed and you’ve participated in many activities, it will be possible to stay”, in an effort to control the worry in the students after the announcement.

The meeting ended at 6.00 p.m. with the usual signing-out process.
