Entrepreneur in the Making

21st October 2017 – In conjunction with Entrepreneur Day, Kolej Sakura organized an event called “Entrepreneur in the Making”; held at the college’s seminar room on the 21st of October from 8.30 a.m. until 12.30 p.m. The participants started to sign in from 8.00 – 8.20 a.m. The event officially began at 8.30 a.m. with the arrival of the honoured guest and speaker, Ms. Nur Farah Fatimah binti Abang Abdul Rahman.

Ms. Farah’s speech began with a light-hearted introduction. She asked the audience for their age and course, and joked about being the oldest in the room. After the atmosphere became more relaxed, she began telling the audience of how she started in the world of business.

She recalled starting off small – merely reselling clothes she bought from a supplier without having a proper shop. It was her father who decided that she should have open a boutique and helped her set it up. Ms. Farah commented on the challenges she faced and how she overcame them. She showed the audience the simple promotional videos she made with just her phone.

Besides that, she introduced the marketing matrix she used – the importance of being seen, known, liked, and trusted. A person’s business will only bloom once these factors are achieved. Ms Farah emphasized on the importance of content when it comes to promoting one’s business, and that creativity is more important than the resources used.

After that, participants began presenting their business proposals. Some did it individually and some did it in groups. Ms Farah listened well to their proposals and gave them her honest opinions on how they could improve their business.

At the end of the event, Ms Farah was given a token of appreciation, and the event officially came to a close at 12.30 p.m with a group photo with all the participants.
