MUSLIM HIKER

Held at Kampung Senah Rayang, Serian Sarawak for over three days from 30^th March 2018 to 1^st April 2018, Muslim Hiker was held to promote volunteerism among youths. Approximately 50 participants volunteered including 24 team committee. The program was organized by Jawatankuasa Surau Sakura (JASSA) in conjunction of the mid-semester break.

 On the first day, participants arrived at 5.00 p.m. via bus. After a short break for Solat Asar, the volunteers were given a tour of the beautiful village. Kampung Senah Rayang, famous for it’s beautiful view of nature was a delight for the participants to look. The program started at night with an ice-breaking session, Ta’aruf. After that, an exciting first activity of the event, Bananana was done.

 

The program continued the next day with the second activity, “Uji Minda”, a mind game. The game lasted for an hour and laughters can be seen throughout the entire session. After the game session, an interactive activity, mind-mapping was done with the youths of Kampung Senah Rayang. The kids were thrilled to play such activities with the volunteers. Solat breaks were done in-between the activity sessions. After the break, a mini “Sukaneka” was held. Jolly faces can be seen throughout the activity. The last activity of the day was done at night, which was an informative session, UNIMAS Review.

For the third day, participants were assigned for a cleaning-up session. After breakfast, each participants were excited to join the “Gotong-royong” session. As it was the last day of the program, a small closing ceremony was done.

The closing ceremony started at 10.30 a.m. A simple speech congratulating everyone involved was given on behalf of the program’s director, Nur Fatin Shafiqah binti Azali. After that, a small prize-giving session was done to the winners of the activities held. A token of appreciation was also given to the representatives of Kampung Senah Rayang for giving a platform for the participants to give back to the community.

A photo session was done to commemorate the program at the end of the day. On behalf of the committee, I would like to congratulate everyone who was involved in making this program a success.
