Academic writing continues it series on 9th November 2016. A topic entitled “Effective Presentation Content” was delivered by Dr Joseph Ramanair, Senior Lecturer in Faculty of Language and Communication Studies.

It was a very interesting presentation by Dr Joseph Ramanair. In his presentation, he told the audiences about what to present, why to present and how to present effectively. Since every subject in the university requires the students to deliver or present the project or assignments, this technique may be crucial to be used as a student. In his talk, he was also include some of the tips regarding the effective presentation to be practiced by the students. A few videos were also helps in the better understanding on how to present correctly and interestingly.

Dr Joseph once said that everyone is not born as talented as Steve Job delivering his presentation. This is why rehearsal is very important to make someone better each time. As we were told since young, practice make perfect. The key of the success of delivering the best presentation is to always practice and ask people to comment on the presentation for improvements. Do not afraid to ask and to try.

The audience in the seminar room seems to be very excited about the topic. One of the participants, Mira Shumiza said that, the workshop today is very interesting and currently giving her spirit to be more confident in the next presentation.

As the technology evolving, the presentation skills is also need to evolve. The use of Powerpoint presentation is very vital as the aid to deliver subject. Some tips regarding the preparation of Powerpoint slides was also being mentioned in the workshop. Take a better look at the point presented, the colour used and the font used in the slide to make it a good presentation. As Dr Joseph said, keep it short and simple and always use the concept of ‘Less is More’.
